1. In the event of an emergency during our normal operating hours, please call our clinic at 805-388-3933.  
   
2. Emergency appointments are charged the standard examination fee, plus a day-time emergency fee.  Examinations do not include any additional diagnostic tests, treatments, or medications that may be required for your pet.

C. After-hours emergencies 

*Please note: prescription refills are NOT emergencies.  Requests for prescription refills cannot be filled after-hours or on weekends, as we do not have access to your pet's medical record after-hours.

1. Fees for emergency appointments
   Emergency appointments are charged the standard examination fee, plus an after-hours or weekend emergency fee (examinations do not include any additional diagnostic tests, treatments, or medications that may be required). 
   
   
2. Contacting us after hours
   Please do not have the doctor paged unless you have a medical or surgical emergency (see ophthalmic emergencies, above). 

   If you have Caller ID blocking  --  If you are expecting an after-hours return phone call from our office, you must temporarily disable your caller ID blocking by entering *87 on your phone (since we will be returning your call from our personal phone).  If you do not disable caller ID blocking, we may not be able to return your emergency phone call.

   How to contact us after hours:
       -  call our hospital at 805-388-3933
       -  using your touch-tone phone, select mailbox "4" and follow the voice mail instructions:

   1.  Leave us a message:
   	-  speak slowly and clearly, and leave a brief message about your emergency
   	-  please tell us your name, and your telephone number, including area code
   2.  After you leave a message, you must then also call our pager:
   	- call 805-445-5194
   	- using your touch tone phone, input the phone number where we can call you, followed by the pound (#) sign (example:805-555-5555#)
   3.  If you have Caller ID blocking  --  If you are expecting an after-hours return phone call from our office, you must temporarily disable your caller ID blocking by entering *87 on your phone (since we will be returning your call from our personal phone).  If you do not disable caller ID blocking, we may not be able to return your emergency phone call.
   We return your call as soon as possible, but we may not be immediately available.   If your call has not been returned within 30 minutes, please repeat the above procedure (leave us another message, and call our pager again).   If your call is not returned within the next 30 minutes, please call your regular veterinarian, or your local animal emergency clinic for advice regarding your emergency.
